Italy has issued Legislative Decree No. 153, effective from 18 November 2023, implementing new reporting obligations for payment service providers from 1 January 2024 as per Council Directive (EU) 2020/284. Payment service providers must monitor payees of cross-border payments and report information on those receiving more than 25 cross-border payments per quarter to Member State administrations, as part of efforts to combat VAT fraud.
