The amendment to increase the VAT rate for the hotel sector was rejected in the House of Representatives. The proposal, submitted by Pieter Omtzigt (NSC) and co-signed by three other MPs, proposed abolishing the reduced rate in sales tax as of July 1, 2024, which would increase the rate from 9 to 21 percent.
