The US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit has affirmed the dismissal of a lawsuit filed by an Illinois municipality against streaming entertainment companies. The municipality claimed that the companies owed local provider fees under Illinois law. However, the court found that the municipality did not provide any evidence that the original definition of “video service” included streaming services. This decision is consistent with similar rulings in other states.
