- Romania is implementing a mandate for B2B e-invoicing for domestic transactions to reduce the national VAT gap and combat tax evasion.
- The draft version of the new budgetary law includes a preliminary timeline for the e-invoicing mandate, which should be operative from January 1, 2024, and cover domestic taxpayers registered or non-registered for VAT, as well as foreign companies registered for VAT.
- The RO e-invoice platform will become a central clearance hub for domestic transactions, and businesses operating in Romania should prepare for the upcoming changes.
- The expanded B2B mandate could be implemented within 2024, and non-resident companies registered for VAT could also be impacted by the reform.
