- Start Date: VAT was introduced in the UAE on January 1, 2018.
- Rate: In the Emirates, the VAT rate stands at 5%.
VAT in Dubai 2023 – Business Perspective:
- VAT registration is mandatory if imports surpass 375,000 AED. If imports are between 187,500 AED and 375,000 AED, registration is voluntary. Start-ups can also register to become VAT taxpayers.
VAT-exempt Industries: Include residential properties, bare land, local passenger transport, and some economic services.
