On Budget Day, the Dutch government published several legislative proposals and amendments related to energy and environmental taxes. Most of these proposals and amendments are intended to reduce the Netherlands’ greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030 (compared to 1990 levels), as follows from the climate goals of the Dutch government. These proposals are to be discussed and adopted by the Dutch parliament in the coming period but are still subject to changes and amendments. Below, we elaborate on the most relevant proposals.
