In August 2023, Euro headline inflation stuck at 5.5% – same as July’s rate. However, core inflation, which strips out energy, food, alcohol & tobacco, dropped to 5.3% from 5.5%.
This has prompted many countries to bring forward temporary food VAT rate cuts.
