In August, the Ministry of Climate and Environment admitted that it was considering exemption from paying goods and services tax in the case of repair and trade in used goods.
The solution must come from above
“Overconsumption in Norway leads to greenhouse gas emissions and interference with nature worldwide. But use and throwaway is a problem that needs to be solved by political means, not by personal responsibility. The VAT exemption is a good example of this,” says Anja Bakken Riise, head of Framtiden i våre hender, an organisation that deals with structural solutions to overconsumption and global inequality.
