HMRC have, through the Joint Customs Consultative Committee, provided an update on the process of removing XI Economic Operators Registration and Identification (EORI) numbers. HMRC wrote to businesses with addresses in Great Britain that hold an XI EORI number issued before 14 September 2021. The letter asked the businesses to confirm that they meet the criteria for holding an XI EORI number, namely, they have a permanent business establishment in Northern Ireland or require an XI EORI number for a specified customs activity.
