- Irish value added tax (VAT) on certain goods and services, mainly in the tourism and hospitality sector, will increase from 9% to 13.5% starting from September 1, 2023.
- The affected goods and services include food and beverages in restaurants, admissions to certain attractions, hotel and guesthouse accommodation, and hairdressing services.
- The temporary 9% VAT rate was introduced in November 2020 due to the pandemic but will not be extended beyond August 31, 2023.
- Other goods and services subject to different VAT rates are not affected.
