India’s GST Council made recommendations on changes in tax rates, trade facilitation, and GST compliance at its 50th meeting on July 11, 2023. One of the key recommendations was to increase the GST rate on online gaming from 18% to 28%, aligning it with casinos and horse racing. Relevant amendments to the Central Goods and Services Tax Act 2017 will be made to implement the change.
