- The GCC Indirect Tax Digest reports bi-weekly on Indirect Tax developments in the Middle East region.
- The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has extended the “Cancellation of Fines and Exemption of Financial Penalties” initiative until 31 December 2023, providing businesses with an opportunity to register for VAT and correct any past tax returns. ZATCA has also approved amendments to the provisions of the VAT Implementing Regulations, including an increase in the threshold for correcting errors in subsequent VAT returns.
- ZATCA has published new guidelines for tax ruling requests, which are now considered reliable and binding opinions.
- Non-resident foreign businesses have until 31 August 2023 to submit a claim for VAT refund under the Business Visitor Refund scheme in the UAE.
