The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council in India has announced that online gaming businesses will be subjected to a 28% GST on the full face value of bets, aligning them with the betting and gambling industries. As a result, certain amendments will be made to the GST law, stated finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman during a press conference following the GST council meeting in New Delhi.
