- Starting from May 1, citizens of Uzbekistan who are on the social register will be able to receive a 12% VAT refund when buying certain consumer goods such as meat, eggs, and butter.
- This is in accordance with a presidential decree issued on April 5. To receive the refund, consumers must use the Soliq mobile application, register with Face ID, and scan the QR code on their purchase receipt.
- The refund will only apply to goods on a list of eligible products, and the entrepreneur must be registered as a VAT payer.
- If a check includes both eligible and non-eligible goods, the refund will only apply to the eligible items.
- The refund will be credited through the Soliq app after the 25th day of the month following the purchase.
- The deputy minister of Economy and Finance has stated that targeted support through compensation rather than VAT exemptions is a more effective way to support socially vulnerable segments of the population.
