- Trinidad and Tobago’s Finance Minister, Colm Imbert, has extended the tax amnesty period until August 31, 2023.
- The amnesty, which was initially launched on November 14, 2022, provides relief from penalties and interest on taxes owed up to December 31, 2021.
- The extension was made due to the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Act, which requires suppliers and contractors to public bodies to have fulfilled their tax obligations.
- Small and medium enterprises affected by Covid-19 in 2020 and 2021 now have more time to pay outstanding taxes and contributions and pre-qualify for the supply of goods and services to public bodies.
