On May 17, 2023, the European Commission presented its plans for a far-reaching reform of the customs law of the Union. In addition to e-commerce, the proposed changes primarily affect data collection and evaluation by the customs authorities in the EU. The implementation of the changes is planned for the period from 2028 to 2038. However, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union have yet to give their consent.
