On 14 April 2023, Saudi Arabia’s Economic Cities and Special Zones Authority (ECZA) announced the launch of special economic zones (SEZs) to create a more competitive investment landscape in Saudi Arabia. The purpose of the SEZs is to provide investors with opportunities for regional and international growth by easing access to the rapidly growing Saudi market.
The ECZA has published a document that highlights the importance and advantages of SEZs. The ECZA also has published draft regulations (in Arabic only) on taxes and customs duties in SEZs for public consultation, with a deadline of 21 May 2023 for submitting feedback.
