The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs, GST Policy Wing has issued guidelines for a Special All-India Drive against fake GST registrations. The drive will take place from May 16th to July 15th, 2023, and aims to detect and weed out fake billers from the GST eco-system. The drive will be conducted in a coordinated manner by Central and State Tax authorities based on data analytics and risk parameters. GSTN will identify fraudulent GSTINs and share them with the concerned tax administration for verification and necessary action. Field formations may supplement this list using various analytical tools and human intelligence. Close coordination among State and Central tax administrations is required for successful implementation of the drive.
