The process of obtaining new GST registration has been delayed due to the need for additional information, such as clarification or documents related to an application. This is to prevent fraudulent applicants from misusing the identity of others. The Central Board Indirect Taxes & Customs has issued an instruction to prevent fake registrations, and officers have been granted the power to take action against discrepancies found during inspections. Genuine taxpayers may face difficulties, so it is advised that GST practitioners use a guidance checklist before updating the GSTIN portal. This includes linking AADHAR and PAN particulars, renewing rental agreements, and updating bank account details.
