The UK has over 70 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with countries on every continent except Antarctica. Businesses must understand trade policy and agreements to take advantage of the current trade environment. Freshfields and EY have launched a new report, FTAs: User’s Guide for UK Business, to help businesses translate complex trade agreement texts into practical applications. The report includes a five-step process to develop a trade strategy approach to FTAs, including mapping and analysing business’ geographical presence and supply chains, monitoring for ongoing FTA developments, identifying opportunities to engage within a trade agreement’s lifecycle, and developing international trade capabilities.
