At the end of February, a stir was caused by the news that the Italian tax authorities had launched an investigation into the possible VAT arrears of Meta, a company commonly known as the owner of digital platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. According to media reports, the amount of VAT demanded from Meta by the Italian tax administration is $925 million.
