Virtual asset taxation was due to take effect from 1 January 2023, but this has been pushed back to 1 January 2025. Creating or acquiring virtual assets (e.g. Bitcoin mining) will not be a taxable event, and VAT is unlikely to apply to virtual asset transactions.
