The European Court of Justice, in a recent judgment of 20 October 2022 (C-585/20)held that EU law precludes national legislation which generally provides for a maximum payment period of 60 days (instead of 30 days) for all commercial transactions between companies and public authorities, even if that period consists of an initial verification period of 30 days followed by by a payment term of 30 days.
