HM Treasury and HMRC have published a consultation on the VAT treatment of fund management services. The consultation, part of a broader tax and regulatory review of the UK’s funds regime, proposes a reform of the relevant UK VAT legislation, in order to codify current UK policy on the VAT treatment of fund management (which is based on UK law, retained EU law, general principles, guidance and case law).
