Sales and long-term rental / leasing of all electric vehicles are currently VAT zero rated in Norway. Since private individuals and companies are not entitled to deduct VAT on passenger vehicles, the current zero-rating entails a subsidy for electric cars. The Government has proposed to remove the VAT zero-rating for all electric vehicles from next year.
