The Ethiopian Ministry of Finance Sept. 16 announced the implementation of tax reform intended to encourage investment in, and the importation of, electric vehicles. The agency announced exemptions from excise tax, VAT, and sur tax for: 1) electric household automobiles imported into, or manufactured in, the country; 2) partially disassembled and assembled domestic electric automobiles; and 3) imported, fully equipped electric automobiles.
