The majority of businesses trading in or with Ireland will be liable for VAT in the country. But how much does your company really know about this key trading hub?
VAT is incredibly important to the Irish government and is required to be paid on almost all goods and services. Indeed, in 2017, VAT made up 27% of the Exchequer’s entire tax revenues.
As a member of the European Union (EU), it is no surprise that Ireland’s VAT regime follows many of the fundamentals of other European systems. However, it retains several quirks – not least its relatively high standard rate of 23%.
