German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has called for a gradual transition to majority voting on EU issues, including foreign policy and tax policy, which currently require unanimity. Chancellor Scholz called for majority voting while speaking on the expansion of the EU at Charles University in Prague on 29 August. While Germany supports the inclusion of additional countries in the EU, Scholz noted that the risk of an individual country using its veto and preventing all the others from moving forward on certain issues increases with each additional member state. ….
