From the position of the Royal Dutch Society for the Promotion of Medicine (KNMG) it could be deduced that the therapeutic benefit of circumcisions without a direct medical indication was not recognized in the Netherlands. X had not kept track of the specific cases in which there was a medical indication due to conditions and it was not likely that this indication was present in all circumcisions performed by him.
