North Macedonia’s Ministry of Finance issued a release on 8 August 2022 on its tax reform plans, the draft concept of which was presented to representatives of all Chambers of Commerce in the country on 4 August. Most of the changes are planned to be applied from 1 January 2023, including changes in the profit tax, personal income tax, VAT, and excise duties, as well as environmentally friendly tax policies.
One area of particular focus is expanding the tax base by targeting existing preferential tax exemptions and reliefs for profit tax, personal income tax, and VAT, with tax incentives revised with a focus on encouraging private and public sector investments in technologies, especially in green transition and digital transformation.
