On 15 July 2022, the Belgian Federal Government approved a draft bill providing for a significant extension of the statute of limitation periods (“verjaringstermijn”/” délais de prescription”) for investigations and assessment of income tax and VAT. This draft law – if voted in by Parliament – will have important consequences for Belgian companies.
