The VAT Directive does not allow propane/LPG to be brought below the reduced VAT rate. A reduced rate is only allowed for the goods and services listed in Annex III to the VAT Directive. That is what State Secretary Van Rij of Finance writes in response to parliamentary questions from Member Van Haga about compensation for rising energy prices for consumers of LPG.
