Energy companies must immediately incorporate the announced VAT reduction on energy in their customers’ monthly payments. The Consumers’ Association writes this in a letter to the sector organization Energie Nederland.
The government is temporarily reducing the VAT on energy to meet consumers’ rising energy costs. From July 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022, a VAT rate of 9 percent instead of 21 percent applies. With this, households can save tens to hundreds of euros in six months.
