Accommodation services rendered to the mentally handicapped are exempt from VAT. As other ancillary services to the latter, rendered by a company to mentally
handicapped persons, can benefit from the VAT exemption scheme. This is the clarification provided by the Revenue Agency in its response to ruling no. 221.
