The Hippodrome in Leicester Square has three uniquely-themed casinos, various bars and restaurants, and a 326-seat theatre. Hippodrome Casino Ltd refurbished the property in 2009-12 at a cost of £50m, with a view to providing a Las Vegas style experience to customers. However, HCL found that there was little crossover between VAT-exempt gaming activity on one hand, and the bars, restaurants, and theatre on the other.
