The Dutch government has issued a release announcing a package of measures to help mitigate the consequences of rising energy prices and persistent inflation. Specific tax measures include a temporary reduction in the VAT rate from 21% to 9% on energy (natural gas, electricity, and district heating) for a period of six months beginning 1 July 2022. In addition, excise duty on petrol (gasoline) and diesel will be reduced by 21% with effect from 1 April 2022 until the end of the year (31 December 2022).
