To combat the proliferation of different formats of electronic invoices in Europe, the European Commission has introduced a European standard and technical specification for e-invoicing: EN 16931-1:2017 and CEN/TS 16931-2:2017. The publications simplify the e-invoicing process and thus international trade. They are available free of charge from the NBN, the Bureau for Standardization, thanks to the European Commission.
