Bahrain’s National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) has published English-language guidance on transitional rules for the increase in the standard VAT rate from 5% to 10% effective 1 January 2022. The guidance provides that, in general, the 10% VAT rate applies on standard-rated supplies and imports made on or after 1 January 2022. However, certain transitional rules apply considering the date that the amendment law increasing the VAT rate was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force, which is 24 December 2021. The main transitional rules are summarized as follows.
