- During the working groups, Poland repeatedly asked for the possibility of a wider use of reduced rates and 0% rates, also for food. It was not possible in the current legal state. Also, the responses of the European Commission (EC) to formal derogation requests regarding the introduction of the 0% rate were always negative.
- On Thursday, the Minister of Finance, Tadeusz Kościński, in a letter to the Commissioner for Economy, again called for the possibility of temporary application of 0% VAT on food in Poland.
- It is a continuation of our activities and an announcement of others, including the submission of a formal letter that was submitted to the European Commission yesterday.
- At today’s ECOFIN meeting, finance ministers reached an agreement on the text of the amendment to the VAT directive.
