The Kenya Revenue Authority has published a list of approved manufacturers and suppliers of Electronic Tax Registers to facilitate compliance with the new VAT or ETI (Electronic Tax Invoice) rules.
All VAT-registered taxpayers have to comply with the provisions of the Regulations by 31 July 2022. Furthermore, taxpayers shall obtain a compliant tax register from an approved supplier. The approved Electronic Tax Register supplier will assist the taxpayer with ETR activation and authentication by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). Once these procedures are done, VAT-registered persons will be able to send tax invoice details to the KRA. In addition, there are guidelines available for the taxpayers, which describe the above steps in more detail.
The list of the currently approved service providers is accessible here. It is anticipated that the KRA will list more suppliers and manufacturers in the future.
