The Dutch tax authority recently informed VAT-registered taxpayers that as of 2022 the online portal for filing VAT returns will be migrated to a new platform, Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk. The “new” portal can only be accessed via the digital authentication system eHerkenning with a level 3 (or higher) security account. Businesses filing Dutch VAT returns via the old portal that do not have an eHerkenning account, should obtain such account as soon as possible. This requirement is not applicable if VAT returns are not filed via the portal (i.e. via representative or system2system software).
