Belgium’s Federal Public Service (SPF) Finance has issued a release noting that the bill for the extension of the 6% reduced VAT rate for masks and hydroalcoholic gels from 1 July to 30 September 2021 has been approved by the House Finance Committee. A circular will be published upon final approval of the measure by Parliament and the publication of the law in the Belgian Official Gazette. The release also notes that the import of masks and hydroalcoholic gels remains exempt from import duties and VAT until 31 December 2021, which takes precedence over the application of the 6% reduced rate.
