The European Commission published on April 12, 2021 a proposal for a directive to introduce two new specific VAT exemptions. These exemptions would apply to imports of goods and to purchases of goods and services carried out by the European Commission or other agencies or bodies established by Union law as part of the performance of a mandate which has been conferred by Union law in the general interest.
