Value added tax (VAT) accounting for cross-border e-commerce is being updated in the EU. One of the novelties is the abolition of the VAT exemption for imports of goods into the EU in the amount not exceeding 22 euros. Thus, from 1 July 2021, VAT will have to be paid on all goods imported into the EU. The new VAT rules on e-commerce in the EU are adapted to the digital single market: fairer, simpler and less fraudulent.
