Sierra Leone has reportedly approved the Finance Act 2021, which took effect on 1 January 2021. Some of the key measures of the Act concern the taxation of digital services, including the introduction of a digital services tax that applies at a rate of 1.5% on the turnover from digital and electronic transactions, with further plans to introduce withholding on payments for digital services. Further, the scope of “taxable supplies” for GST purposes has been expanded to include digital market supplies or digital services provided through a digital marketplace.
