Recently, Russian customs authorities have started challenging agreements on royalty and licensing fees from retail companies.
According to the media and official reports from the Federal Customs Service of Russia (FCS), Russian customs has charged significant amounts of additional customs duties and has started a criminal case against a major retailer in Russia for not including certain royalties in the customs value of goods.
Recently, the FCS announced that about 40 companies are on their target list, although further information about this list is lacking.
