In October 2020, Oman confirmed the introduction of Value Added Tax (VAT) at 5% as from 16 April 2021 and published its VAT Law (in Arabic) via Royal Decree 121/2020 in Oman’s official gazette on 18 October 2020.
The Oman tax authorities subsequently have initiated several measures including consultation with businesses and trade bodies on VAT, and the release of VAT guides, FAQs, and other useful documents to assist businesses and individuals to prepare for the implementation of VAT.
