State Secretary of Finance Vijlbrief sends the House of Representatives answers to questions about the VAT reduction on e-books.
The purpose of the measure is primarily to create a level playing field in theVAT treatment of physical books, newspapers and magazines and the via electronically delivering the digitized content thereof. In the ideal this will lead to a price reduction for the consumer. However, as before companies themselves are responsible for determining their pricing policy and the government does not have any instruments to force them.
