HMRC offers a procedure to settle tax disputes, called Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Anyone can apply for ADR to help resolve a dispute with HMRC, or to get more information about issues that need to be taken for a legal ruling.
An HMRC mediator who has been trained in mediation skills and techniques will work with you and the HMRC officer dealing with your case.
