The new rules introduce, among other things, a new EU-wide certification system for small and artisan alcohol producers, improving the business environment and reducing costs for such enterprises. The new rules also increase the threshold for lower strength beer to which reduced rates may apply to encourage brewers to produce beverages with a lower alcohol content. These rules will be applicable as from 1 January 2022.
